We
were pleased to record the Portland
Youth Philharmonic in concert at Portland's, Reed College.
The student performers ranged in age from high school to college
and reflected fine musicianship.

Our
recording services were engaged on May 2 by Bella Voce, a local,
twenty-two voice women's ensemble. Their contemporary repertoire
was dazzling under the guidance of conductor, Margaret Green as
they recorded tracks for an upcoming album

April
was quite an exciting month as we hosted international Celtic
folk singer, Anne
Martin, from the Isle of Skye off the west coast of
Scotland. Performing with her was friend and colleague, Ingrid
Henderson, a fabulous Celtic harpist. Anne and Ingrid performed
at services at Christ Church, Lake Oswego on April 17 as well
as giving an evening concert there. They were also the special
guests at two concerts put on by the Oregon
Repertory Singers on April 23 & 24 at First United
Methodist Church, Portland. The two packed houses enjoyed a wonderful
Celtic program of the ORS under the direction of Gil Seeley.
Palatine
Recordings stepped out of our usual recording roll to provide
sound re-enforcement for the concerts. Putting fine vocal microphones
in a sound re-enforcement application wasn't our first thought,
but using a Neumann U47 as a vocal mic was magnificent along with
KM88s on the Celtic harp.

The
started with a bang as we continued the Anton Reicha sessions
at Crystal Records in Camas, WA from January 18-22. Performed
by the Westwood Wind Quintet, the more-than-a-dozen quintets of
Reicha have little representation among recorded music, certainly
not in their entirety. The first album, containing Op. 91, Nos.
1 & 2 is available directly from Crystal
Records as CD266. The album was recorded and mastered
by Palatine Recordings. The second album is currently being edited
by Peter Christ at Crystal Records and will be available this
summer.

We
were pleased to record an album for Portland-based, Cappella Romana
from January 10 - 14 at St. Mary's Cathedral here in Portland.
Byzantine chant , sung in Greek, may not be what the average classical
music listener has in mind, but to hear Cappella Romana is to
believe. Never have we heard nine voices produce so much gorgeous
tone and bring to life such deeply spiritual text. Check out Cappella
Romana and treat yourself to an incredible experience
next time they're in Portland. Please click on the Sessions link
for photos of the Cappella Romana recording session.

are just beginning work editing a new album for Crystal Records.
Recorded by us last year, the album features violist, Carol Rodland
and pianist, Tatevik Mokatsian performing a Suite for viola &
piano by Oregon composer, Kenji Bunch. Also included are a number
of favourites by Cole Porter and George Gershwin, arranged by
Kenji Bunch. The album will be released on Crystal Records early
in 2005.

The
Anton Reicha sessions continue at Crystal Records on August 26
& 27 and again on September 1 & 2. The wind quintets of
Anton Reicha are some of the most lovely and very under-recorded
music. Do check out Crystal
Records for the best in brass and woodwind recordings!

We
just finished the final session at Crystal Records in Camas, WA
where we recorded the Westwood Wind Quintet performing two wind
quintets of Anton Reicha, a comtemporary of Beethoven. Crystal
Records president, Peter Christ, is a founding member of the Westwood
Wind Quintet and brings world class playing to this exciting and
under-recorded music. The album will be released on Crystal Records
later this year.
